ICC T20 World Cup 2026 Points Table: Afghanistan defeated Canada by 82 runs in match 39 of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2026 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Thursday, February 19. They ended their campaign in the tournament on a high, finishing in third position in Group D with two wins and as many defeats in four games.
They restricted Canada to 118/8 in their 20 overs while defending their massive total. Mohammad Nabi capitalised on his incredible experience and was the pick of the bowlers for his team, having taken four wickets for just seven runs in his four overs, whereas the skipper, Rashid Khan, found a couple of scalps. Despite playing an outstanding brand of cricket, Afghanistan couldn't make it to the Super 8s.
After being put into bat first, Afghanistan posted a huge total of 200/4 in their 20 overs on the back of a tremendous effort from Ibrahim Zadran. He had a memorable outing with the bat, having played a remarkable knock of 95 runs in 56 balls on the back of seven fours and five sixes. On the other hand, Sediqullah Atal came up with a crucial effort of 44 runs in 32 balls. Chasing the target, Canada were never on track and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. They had a disappointing campaign in the tournament, losing all four of their group games.
