India vs New Zealand Final, ICC T20 World Cup 2026: Indian team has reached Ahmedabad ahead of their ICC T20 World Cup 2026 final against New Zealand, which is scheduled to be played at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday, March 8. It was just an year ago when both the teams faced off in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 which India won by 5 wickets in Dubai. India are chasing multiple records as they aim to lift their record third T20 WC title.
The Men in Blue travelled from Mumbai to Ahmedabad just a few hours of their thrilling 7-run victory over England in the second semi-final at the Wankhede Stadium. This was the second successive time that India defeated England in the T20 WC semifinal, having outclassed them in the tournament's previous edition as well in 2024. India have won the T20 WC twice in their history, with their latest title coming a couple of years ago. Both teams have suffered one defeat each in the ongoing tournament.

India players were seen in incredible calmness despite playing a high-scoring thriller in front of the star-studded crowd in Mumbai. Sanju Samson was the standout performer with the bat for the hosts, having played a remarkable knock of 89 runs, whereas Jasprit Bumrah produced an impactful effort with the ball. Indian team received a warm welcome at the Taj Hotel in Ahmedabad.

Both teams have faced off in a total of 30 matches in the T20I history, with India having an upper hand. They have won 18 matches as compared to New Zealand's 11 victories, whereas one match ended in a tie.
"It’s an unbelievable feeling. Obviously, playing in India, leading such a wonderful side, and with the World Cup happening here, going to Ahmedabad to play that final. I think it’s a special feeling for all the boys. Hopefully, we gave them a great show going into the final.There will definitely be pressure and nerves, especially playing in India and going for the title. But the boys and the whole support staff are excited as well," Indian captain said after winning the semifinal
