India vs New Zealand Final, ICC T20 World Cup 2026: All roads in Ahmedabad will lead to the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium as India gear up to take on New Zealand in the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 on Sunday, March 8. India will be looking to come up with another impressive performance to lift their third record T20 World Cup title and third successive ICC trophy.
The pitch for the IND vs NZ final match at the Narendra Modi Stadium is set to be flat with a par score of around 200. India had a memorable outing in the semifinal against England, beating them by just 7 runs in a thrilling high-scoring contest in Mumbai. A total of 499 runs were scored in the match. According to an ESPNcricinfo report, the match will be played on the centre wicket, which has hosted just one more match in the tournament — between Canada and South Africa, where the latter scored 213/4 and won by 57 runs.

The report said the pitch is likely to offer minimal turn, but good pace and bounce for the pacers, making it similar to the one at the Wankhede Stadium for the India vs England semi-final. The fresh pitch in Ahmedabad will be a mix of red and black soil. That’s in complete contrast to the wicket famously used here during the 2023 ODI World Cup final. Fans have their concerns as they were reminded of India's heartbreaking defeat against Australia in the ODI World Cup 2023 at the same venue.

Pitches in the International Cricket Council (ICC) tournaments are curated under an ICC-employed official’s guidance. The pitch for the India vs Australia ODI WC 2023 final was a used surface, which was completely made of black soil, and thus drier with lower bounce. Rohit Sharma’s men lost the match by six wickets, after scoring a sub-par 240 in the first innings, thanks to an all-mighty batting failure.
It's uncelar how much of a control the BCCI hosts will have in the preparation for the pitch for the IND vs NZ final. But a flatter wicket is likely to benefit Suryakumar Yadav and Co. However, despite putting up a mammoth 253 against England in the semi-final, India only won by a paltry margin of seven runs. Except for Jasprit Bumrah, the entire bowling attack went for big runs.
