The protests have been held at a time when the US and Israel have emphasised on a regime change in the country, citing people's choice. Earlier last week, Iran also chose Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, son of Ayatollah Khamenei, as its new Supreme Leader to temporarily shut down the regime change talks. Earlier last week, US President Donald Trump had stated that he must have a say in the appointment of the new supreme leader.

However, a video was portrayed at Valiasr Square, showing the transfer of power to Mojtaba Khamenei. Along with this, a rally was organised in Tehran to demonstrate the support for the new leader amid the crisis. "Through these rallies, the Iranian government wants to send a message to the world, especially the United States, that despite the fierce war and external pressure, the people of the country stand firmly with their leadership," he added.
