US Iran Israel War: Amid the escalating conflict in the Middle East, reports have emerged claiming that Iran may be using advanced Chinese-made missiles in its attacks against US and Israeli targets. According to Chinese state media, Iranian missiles have reportedly struck US aircraft and naval vessels. This has raised suspicions about the origin of the missiles, with some suggesting they could be supplied by China.

In response, Beijing has swiftly denied these allegations, calling them part of a disinformation campaign. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning emphasised that China adheres to international laws and opposes the spread of false information. She also reaffirmed China’s commitment to peace and stability, stressing the importance of dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the ongoing conflict.

On Monday, China denied claims that it was finalising a deal with Iran to supply CM-302 supersonic anti-ship missiles, which would have been among the most advanced military equipment transferred to Iran by China in recent years, according to media reports.

"The report is not true. As a responsible major country, China always abides by its international obligations. China opposes ill-intentioned associations and the spread of disinformation and hopes relevant parties will take actions that contribute to de-escalating the tense situation," she said.

This is significant as the US has positioned a naval task force, including aircraft carriers, near Iranian waters in support of the ongoing military campaign against Iran.

Chinese state media also reported that US planes crashed after being hit by Iranian missiles, though the origin of the missiles remains unclear.

Meanwhile, Iran is one of China's largest oil suppliers and maintains close defence and strategic ties with Beijing. Given these strong relations, attention is now focused on whether China will simply condemn the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei or continue its close ties with Tehran's new leadership.

China has appeared cautious in its responses to recent events, including the detention of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro and his wife, as well as the assassination of Khamenei. This comes as US President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit Beijing on March 31.

When asked whether Trump’s visit would proceed given the escalating tensions in the Middle East, Mao stated that China and the US are in communication about their leaders' upcoming interactions.

In response to a question from an Iranian journalist regarding China's potential role in preventing unilateral US actions, such as the assassination of foreign leaders, Mao reaffirmed China's firm opposition to the use of force in international relations, stressing the importance of respecting the sovereignty and security of other countries.

"The priority now is to immediately halt military operations and prevent the spread of the conflict," she said. "China is prepared to work with the international community to call for peace, stop the conflict, and resolve issues through dialogue and negotiations to maintain peace and stability in the Middle East and across the globe."

On Monday, Iran and Iranian-backed militias fired missiles at Israel and Arab states are apparently hitting the US Embassy compound in Kuwait, while Israel and the United States pounded targets in Iran as the war expanded with statements of defiance and increasing casualties.
