Speaking to BFM TV on Tuesday, Zarka noted that the operation, initially projected to last a few weeks remains on track and is currently 'ahead of schedule'.

"Zarka, a former top diplomat on Iranian affairs, clarified that Israel's strategic objectives extend far beyond dismantling Tehran's nuclear infrastructure. The mission aims to decisively weaken the Iranian government's grip on power, preventing it from projecting force across the region and creating a vacuum that allows the Iranian people to "take their fate into their own hands."

The Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority has announced a further 72-hour extension of its total airspace closure, grounding all arriving, departing, and transit flights through at least noon on Tuesday.

The Iraqi Prime Minister has informed the United States that Iraqi airspace is strictly off-limits for military operations against neighboring countries.

The Egyptian government implemented a sharp increase in domestic fuel prices, raising costs by as much as 30 per cent on Tuesday. Iranian residents have reported headaches, difficulty breathing, and oil-contaminated rain settling on buildings and cars. Iran's Red Crescent Society warned rainfall following the strikes could be "highly dangerous and acidic."

One of the primary ways air pollutants are removed from the atmosphere is through rain. When you have significant levels of pollutants in the air, they will be collected by falling water droplets and "rain out" of the atmosphere.

Vice President JD Vance traveled to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware on Monday to preside over the dignified transfer of US Army. 26-year-old Benjamin Pennington from Glendale, Kentucky, was the seventh American service member killed in the ongoing Middle East war on March 8 following a missile strike on the Prince Sultan Air Base in Saudi Arabia on March 1.

This ceremony marks the return of the latest fallen soldier to US soil, bringing the total number of American fatalities in the conflict to seven, six men and one woman.

During a high level meeting in Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin warned that the ongoing conflict could lead to a "total halt" of oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz within the next 30 days.

In an interview with ANI, Iran’s Ambassador to India, Mohammad Fathali, dismissed US President Donald Trump’s recent comments regarding Iran’s future leadership, characterising them as a fundamental misreading of the Iranian public. Mohammad Fathali argued that while internal disagreements and domestic challenges exist, the nation remains fiercely unified against any form of outside meddling. Iranian Ambassador said that such remarks by the US President represent "a lack of understanding of the Iranian people."

"Just as they miscalculated regarding the war and were surprised by the developments, unfortunately, they also took positions regarding Iran's leadership that have now left them with nothing but surprise and a clearer demonstration of their misunderstanding of Iranian society," Fathali said.

Asian markets staged a strong recovery on Tuesday morning, while global oil prices experienced a dramatic sell-off. The shift followed a volatile overnight session sparked by President Donald Trump’s assertion that the US-led military operation in Iran could be "over soon."

In early trading, MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares (excluding Japan) jumped 2.6 per cent, clawing back significant losses incurred since the conflict began on February 28. Meanwhile, the energy market saw a sharp reversal. In contrast, US equity futures remained cautious, with S and P 500 e-minis slipping 0.2per cent as investors balanced Trump's optimism against his continued threats of "20x harder" retaliation if oil flows are disrupted.

The Taiwanese government announced on Tuesday that it has secured new supply contracts to boost natural gas imports from the United States starting in June. This move is part of a broader effort to mitigate energy disruptions triggered by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Following a cabinet meeting focused on stabilising energy costs, officials confirmed that the Ministry of Economic Affairs is now conducting daily reviews of international crude oil markets and domestic inventory levels to safeguard the economy from price volatility.

"In addition, new international contracts have been signed, and starting in June, imports of natural gas from the United States will increase," without giving details, the statement said.

President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Iran, stating that any attempt by Tehran to obstruct oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz would result in a significantly more forceful military response from the United States

"If Iran does anything that stops the flow of Oil within the Strait of Hormuz, they will be hit by the United States of America TWENTY TIMES HARDER than they have been hit thus far," Trump wrote on social media.
