Amid reports of mediation to end the war in Iran, United States President Donald Trump on Friday ruled out any negotiation settlement with Iran, saying that America will accept nothing but unconditional surrender.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump made a bold statement, closing the diplomatic doors to end the war, an effort being pursued by several countries in a quite manner since the was raged.
"There will be no deal with Iran except UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER," Trump wrote.
Trump also spoke out his intention to engage in a post-war reconstruction in Iran. "We, and many of our wonderful and very brave allies and partners, will work tirelessly to bring Iran back from the brink of destruction, making it economically bigger, better, and stronger than ever before," Trump wrote, adding, "IRAN WILL HAVE A GREAT FUTURE. The statement came after Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reacted to the international mediation efforts, saying that Iran's stand is unambiguous and that "those (Israel and US) should be addressed who started the fire".
The war in the West Asia is set to last longer than expected. Despite claims of destroying the Iranian air force by US, its 30-day waiver to India to buy Russian oil, hints that crisis is there to stay.
Additionally, in another statement, US Energy Secretary Chris Wright pledged to aid the vessels ready to transit the Strait of Hormuz as traffic remains heavily disrupted .
Speaking to Fox News' Fox and Friends, Wright said the US Navy is preparing to escort vessels through the Strait amid the ongoing conflict of US-Israel with Iran. The move, according to him, aims to ensure the safe passage and accordingly restore the flow of energy supplies.
"As soon as it’s reasonable to do it, we’ll escort ships through the straits and get the energy moving again," he said.
