Israel-Iran Conflict: The escalating conflict between Iran and Israel has caused massive disruptions to global air travel, leading to the sudden closure of multiple airspaces across middle-east and widespread flight cancellations. Israel and Iran both have closed their airspaces while several other Middle East nations have announced restrictions on their airspaces. In view of the evolving situation in the Middle East, major carriers across Europe, the Gulf, and Asia have rerouted aircraft or halted operations entirely to avoid potential war zones.
India's Ministry of Civil Aviation has undertaken a comprehensive review of preparedness and response measures with all concerned stakeholders. The review focused on ensuring passenger safety, operational continuity and real-time coordination in light of multiple airspace restrictions and NOTAMs issued in parts of the region.

Air India: The carrier announced on X that all services to Middle Eastern destinations have been suspended until further notice. The airline emphasised that the security of its customers and staff remains its highest priority.
IndiGo: The airline cancelled all flights to and from the Middle East until at least midnight (00:00 hours), citing emerging airspace restrictions over Iran and the surrounding region.
SpiceJet: The airline warned that its flight schedule could be disrupted due to the closure of Dubai’s airspace.

Air France and KLM: Air France cancelled services to Tel Aviv, Beirut, Dubai, and Riyadh through March. KLM brought forward its suspension of the Amsterdam-Tel Aviv route.
Lufthansa: Lufthansa and Swiss International Air Lines suspended flights to Tel Aviv, Dubai, Beirut, and Oman until March 7. Swiss confirmed that 14 services have been affected so far.

Middle Eastern Carriers
Qatar Airways, Oman Air, and Kuwait’s aviation authorities have suspended flights following the closure of their respective airspaces. PIA (Pakistan) has also halted services to the region.
European Disruption
Wizz Air, LOT Polish Airlines, Iberia Express, and Aegean Airlines have all reported significant cancellations or "turn-backs," where flights mid-air were forced to return to their origin.
Russia & Japan
The Russian Ministry of Transport suspended all flights to Iran and Israel, while Japan Airlines (JAL) cancelled its Tokyo-Doha service.
Air travel across large parts of the Middle East remains crippled as Iran, Israel, Iraq, the UAE, Jordan, and Syria have enforced varying levels of airspace shutdowns. These newest cancellations follow Israel's announcement of a pre-emptive strike on Iran, later confirmed by the US, pushing regional instability to its highest level in years.
