Israel-US-Iran War: The war between Iran and the joint forces of Israel and the US, which began with the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has entered its 12th day. Earlier on Tuesday, US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth stated that March 10 was the "most intense day of strikes" inside Iran. The US announced that 16 Iranian mine-laying ships were hit near the Strait of Hormuz.
The International Energy Agency (IEA) has agreed to release 400 million barrels of oil from its members' strategic reserves, the largest such action in its history. This move is a direct attempt to counter soaring energy prices triggered by the ongoing US-Israeli war on Iran.
This historic intervention more than doubles the 182 million barrels released by IEA nations in 2022 following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
US President Donald Trump declared that the conflict with Iran could conclude shortly, asserting that US and allied strikes have been so effective that there is "practically nothing left to target" within the country. Trump characterised the military campaign as "going great" and claimed that American forces have exceeded their original six-week objectives ahead of schedule.
The President stated that the damage inflicted on Iranian military infrastructure surpassed initial estimates, remarking, "Any time I want it to end, it will end." While Trump expressed confidence that the US is "way ahead of the timetable," some military officials have cautioned that operations may continue for at least another two weeks to ensure all strategic goals are fully met.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated that the recent attacks have damaged Tehran, further stating that a regime change would save the country. Iran, in its retaliation, continued strikes on the US bases in the Arab nations, leading to severe damage. The effect of war is not anymore limited to these few countries, as several countries have begun reporting the shortage of crude oil and LPG.
