Iran-Israel-US War: The war between Iran and the joint forces of Israel and the US, which began with the killing of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is now headed towards uncertainty. While US President Donald Trump on Saturday reiterated that there would be no talks until Iran surrendered, Tehran continued to strike the US bases in the Middle East. With no signs of immediate retreat, the experts have begun questioning the strategies of the Trump administration.
Trump Lacks Strategy?
Laura Blumenfeld of the Johns Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies in Washington asserted that a military operation in Tehran is potentially protracted. She further claimed that along with his party's performance in the next polls, Trump has also risked the global economy and regional stability. "Iran is a messy and potentially protracted military campaign," Blumenfeld was quoted as saying by Reuters.

"Trump is risking the global economy, regional stability and his own Republican party's performance in the US midterm elections," she added. The critics have also pointed out that the Trump administration has not disclosed the detailed strategy that could define the victory. The experts have also flagged that the complex geography of Iran is likely to make the ground invasion attempts a tough task.
They stated that geography of Iran is defined by a central plateau surrounded by high, rugged mountain ranges—the Zagros and Alborz. The experts further stated that they contribute to the formation of two desert basins- the Dasht-e Kavir (Great Salt Desert) and the Dasht-e Lut.
However, White House spokesperson Anna Kelly asserted that the motive behind the recent attack is to ensure that Iran does not obtain a nuclear weapon. "destroy Iran’s ballistic missiles and production capacity, demolish their navy, end their ability to arm proxies, and prevent them from ever obtaining a nuclear weapon," Kelly stated.
Political Risks In US
While the supporters of MAGA (Make America Great Again) continue to back Trump's idea to attack Iran, the reports suggest that a part of the Republican Party is unhappy with the war.
"The American people are not interested in repeating the mistakes of Iraq and Afghanistan," Republican strategist Brian Darling was quoted as saying by Reuters. "The MAGA base is split between those who relied on no-new-war promises and ones who are loyal to Trump’s judgment," he added.
