Amid heightened tensions across the Middle East due to missile and drone attack exchanges between Israel-US and Iran, Dubai is on high alert with panic all across major locations, including the airport and Burj Khalifa, among others.

A new video from near the world's tallest building shows a loud explosion, followed by a thick cloud of black smoke billowing from the vicinity. The authorities had already evacuated Burj Khalifa as part of a precautionary measure.

Meanwhile, at least 4 people were injured in Palm Jumerah after a major fire erupted due to a retaliatory strike. Emergency teams, including ambulance and fire control, were rushed to the spot.

A video from the site shows fire at the Fairmont Hotel in The Palm. The fire reportedly erupted after a loud explosion.

Dubai airport closed

Dubai International Airport, one of the most bustling airports in the world, was closed as Iran attacked the city, as part of its retaliatory measure against US bases.

Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) was also shut. The UAE was struck with at least three waves of missile barrages on Saturday.

Speaking about the situation in the city, Dubai Media Office said that they were "closely monitoring developments."

"We are closely monitoring developments, and our frontline heroes are taking all necessary measures to protect the public and ensure their safety. May our nation, and all who call it home, remain safe," it added.

Shahed drone strikes populated area

The residents in Dubai have reported several explosions in the city throughout the day. In a separate incident, a Shahed drone hit an area between two buildings in a densely populated area of Dubai. A video of the incident, shared by Nexta TV, shows a drone strike with a loud explosion as flames flared into the air. Shahed drones are reported to be among the deadliest in Iran's arsenal.
