Expressing deep condolences over the death of Dipu Chandra Das, killed during a mob attack in Mymensingh, the Bangladesh interim government has announced financial assistance of 25 lakh taka to his family for the construction of a house.

The victim, Dipu Das, was beaten and burnt to death on December 18, 2025, during a mob attack in the Square Masterbari area of Bhaluka Upazila in Mymensingh district, over allegedly making an insulting remark about Islam and Prophet Muhammad during an event at a garment factory marking World Arabic Language Day.

The allegations allegedly spread rapidly within the factory and surrounding areas, fuelling anger and tension. According to multiple reports, an enraged mob attacked Dipu soon after the accusations surfaced. He was beaten brutally and reportedly died on the spot. 

Reports further allege that the violence continued even after his death. The crowd allegedly carried his body to the Square Masterbari bus stand area, tied it to a tree with a rope, beat it while chanting slogans, and later set it on fire.

Das was the sole earning member of the family, which included his disabled father, mother, wife and child. To assure long-term financial assistance to his family, the government is set to provide 25 lakh taka to build a permanent house.
