Gurugram CEO Viral Post: A Gurugram-based CEO’s hopes of travelling to the US came crashing down when his visa application was rejected, leaving him frustrated and questioning the process. Jasveer Singh shared his experience on X, explaining that despite running a company in India for 13 years, employing staff locally, and paying taxes, the authorities still considered him to have 'weak ties to India.'

Singh expressed his disappointment, pointing out that all his professional and personal connections should have clearly shown his intent to return. He wrote that if this is how 'intent' is being judged, then either the rules themselves are unclear or the evaluation system needs a serious review.

Singh shared an image of the formal letter from the United States Embassy in New Delhi. The letter stated that he was found ineligible for a non-immigrant visa under US law because he “was not able to demonstrate that your intended activities in the United States would be consistent with the classification of the non-immigrant visa for which you applied.” It also emphasised that visa applicants must prove strong professional, financial, social, or family ties to their home country to ensure they return after visiting the US.

The post sparked mixed reactions online. Some users appreciated the transparency about why visa applications can be rejected, while others debated the fairness and logic of the system.

One user wrote, "The surname Singh might have a negative connotation for VISA approval chances. For obvious reasons. A lot of North Indians, especially from Punjab, have lately created a lot of ruckus in the US, be it illegal truck driving and killing people left & right. not ur fault, but it is what it is." "That’s just ridiculous. If running a business, employing people, and paying taxes here for 13 years counts as weak ties, then the system is clearly out of touch and wow, tweet point," added another user.
