Uttarakhand 2027 Census preparations have gathered pace, with the first phase involving the listing and counting of houses scheduled to begin in April. Following the issuance of the census notification, administrative machinery across the state has been mobilised to ensure the exercise is conducted smoothly.

In the first phase, houses across urban and rural areas will be listed and counted. District Magistrates and Municipal Commissioners have been appointed as Census Officers. Training of Census Staff from March 10
Training for personnel involved in house listing and counting will begin from March 10. Sub-Divisional Magistrates will assist District Magistrates, while Deputy Municipal Commissioners will support Municipal Commissioners during the process.
Caste-Based Census Also to Be Conducted
The central government has decided to conduct the next census in 2027, which will also include a caste-based census. Uttarakhand is among the few states where the exercise will begin with caste-based data collection. After house listing, the second phase will involve collecting social, economic and cultural details of individuals.
Special Arrangements for Security-Sensitive Areas
Uttarakhand being a security-sensitive state with several defence establishments, special arrangements have been made. Areas under Cantonment Boards with civilian populations will be covered by Cantonment Board officials under the chairmanship of the District Magistrate. Counting of military establishments will be carried out during the census with cooperation from the Ministry of Defence.
Citizens Can Count Their Own Houses Online
1. They can do this by visiting the official website and entering their name and address.
2. After filling in the details, a unique ID will be generated for each household.
3. The form will include 33 questions related to the house and household facilities.
4. Questions will cover whether the house is temporary or permanent.
5. It will also ask about facilities like TV, refrigerator, and ownership of vehicles.
6. Citizens must answer all the questions online.
7. This self-enumeration process will be completed 15 days before the official house counting begins.
Self-Enumeration to Finish Before Field Survey
The self-enumeration process will be completed 15 days before the official house listing begins. The unique ID generated can later be used during the main census, making the process faster and more efficient.
