The weather pattern in Uttar Pradesh is set to change once again as the low-pressure area over northern Pakistan weakens, leading to a noticeable drop in minimum temperatures across the state. In the Terai districts of western Uttar Pradesh, the availability of sufficient moisture is expected to increase fog density, raising the possibility of dense fog at some places on the morning of January 27.
For today, January 27, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning for rain and lightning in 47 districts of the state. Strong winds are also likely to accompany the weather system in these areas.
Senior meteorologist Dr Atul Kumar Singh stated that following rainfall in the north-western parts of the state last Friday, the weakening of the weather system has caused minimum temperatures to decline. However, under the influence of an active Western Disturbance approaching the region, rainfall is expected in many parts of Uttar Pradesh on January 27 and 28. During this period, minimum temperatures may rise again by three to five degrees Celsius.
Gusty winds with speeds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour are also likely in several districts. The Meteorological Department has forecast the possibility of thunder and lightning in districts including Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Mathura, Agra, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Unnao, Sitapur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Bahraich, Gonda, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli, Baghpat, Badaun and adjoining areas.
Residents have been advised to remain alert as changing weather conditions may impact daily activities across the state.
