Xiaomi has rolled out its new flagship phones, the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra, in India and global markets, and this time the focus is very clear. Power, cameras, and battery life. No distractions, just two top-end devices aimed at people who want the best the brand can offer right now.

Both phones are driven by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, built on a 3nm process. That means faster performance, better efficiency, and smoother multitasking across the board. Whether it is gaming, editing photos, or juggling heavy apps, these devices are built to handle it without breaking a sweat.

Let’s start with pricing

The Xiaomi 17 begins at EUR 999 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant. Buyers can choose from Alpine Pink, Black, Ice Blue, and Venture Green.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra sits higher at EUR 1,499 for the 16GB RAM and 512GB storage option. It comes in Black, Starlit Green, and White. Xiaomi is also selling dedicated photography kit and photography kit Pro accessories separately for users who want a more camera-focused setup.

Now, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra is clearly the showpiece. It runs Android 16 with HyperOS 3 layered on top and features a large 6.9-inch 1.5K LTPO AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The screen is protected by Dragon Crystal Glass 3 and reaches up to 1,060 nits of brightness.

Where it really stands out is the camera system. Xiaomi continues its Leica partnership, and the Ultra carries a triple rear setup that includes a 50-megapixel, 1-inch LOFIC Omnivision 1050L primary sensor with OIS, a 50-megapixel Samsung JN5 ultra-wide camera, and a massive 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens for long-range shots. On the front, there is a 50-megapixel OV50M camera for selfies and video calls.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra also packs a 6,000mAh battery with support for 90W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. It even supports 22.5W reverse wireless charging. Add to that Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings, plus a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, and you get a device that checks nearly every flagship box.

The standard Xiaomi 17 is more compact but still serious. It features a 6.3-inch 1.5K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to a 300Hz touch sampling rate. Brightness can go as high as 3,500 nits, and it supports HDR10+, HDR Vivid, Dolby Vision, and the DCI P3 colour gamut.

It uses the same Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and offers 12GB LPDDR5T RAM with 256GB storage. The camera system is again Leica-tuned, with three 50-megapixel sensors covering primary, telephoto, and ultra-wide duties. The front camera is also 50 megapixels.

Interestingly, the standard model carries a slightly larger 6,330mAh battery and supports faster 100W wired charging, along with 50W wireless charging.

Taken together, the Xiaomi 17 series feels like Xiaomi refining its flagship formula rather than experimenting. The Ultra pushes camera hardware to extremes with a 200-megapixel periscope lens, while the regular model delivers similar power in a slightly smaller form. It is a clear statement that Xiaomi wants to compete at the very top, and it is doing so with very little compromise.
