Apple used WWDC 2026 to lay out a refreshed Apple Intelligence strategy across iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, tvOS 27 and visionOS 27. The update brings a major leap in Siri capabilities, broader AI integration across the ecosystem, and new developer tools designed to bring intelligence deeper into apps and services. At the centre of it all is Siri AI, the next evolution of Apple’s digital assistant, powered by the company’s upgraded Apple Intelligence framework.

Alongside this, Apple introduced its second-generation Apple Foundation Models, built to better understand and process speech, text and images. These models are designed to support more advanced AI features across Apple devices while keeping processing tightly integrated with its privacy-focused approach.

Siri AI Becomes A Cross Device Assistant

Siri AI is designed to work seamlessly across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple Vision Pro. It can pull context from apps like Messages, Mail and Photos, perform actions across multiple apps, and combine information from different services to handle more complex requests. It is also capable of understanding what is currently on a user’s screen and using online sources when needed to complete tasks.

Apple has also introduced a dedicated Siri app, giving users a single place to start or continue conversations. These interactions are synced via iCloud, allowing continuity across devices. The assistant is also becoming more customisable, with additional voice options and control settings being added.

A New Unified AI And Search Experience

A new Search and Ask interface has also been introduced, bringing search, AI assistance and task execution into one unified experience. Users can launch apps, retrieve information, send commands and interact with Siri using either voice or text. Apple also demonstrated Siri handling multi-app requests that require pulling data from different services in a single flow.

Apple Intelligence Expands Across Apps And System Tools

The latest Apple Intelligence update also introduces system-wide writing tools, smarter Shortcuts powered by natural language prompts, and more context-aware suggestions to help users complete everyday tasks faster. Visual Intelligence is also expanding, allowing devices to interpret a wider range of on-screen and camera-based content and trigger actions based on what it recognises.

Smarter Apps And Photos Upgrades

Several core Apple apps are also getting AI-powered enhancements. Safari can now automatically group tabs into categories, while Messages, Mail, Calendar, Phone, Home and Passwords all gain context-aware suggestions and automation features. The Photos app is also receiving new tools including Clean Up, Extend, Reframe and Spatial Reframing for more advanced editing and composition control.

Developer Access And Rollout Plans

Apple will make Siri AI available for developer testing immediately, with a broader consumer beta arriving later this year. Initially, the feature will support English, with more languages planned over time. Apple also confirmed that some Apple Intelligence features and Siri AI availability will vary by region, with certain markets, including China, not receiving full access at launch.

Developers will also gain access to new frameworks designed to make it easier to integrate Apple Intelligence capabilities directly into third-party apps, signalling Apple’s push to expand its AI ecosystem beyond its own software.
