Apple has unveiled the next generation of Apple Intelligence, bringing a much broader set of AI-powered features across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, AirPods and Apple Vision Pro. The update introduces everything from a redesigned Siri experience and advanced photo editing tools to smarter web browsing, AI-generated images and new automation capabilities.
At the centre of the announcement is Apple's updated AI architecture, which combines on-device processing with its Private Cloud Compute infrastructure. Apple says the approach allows users to access more powerful AI capabilities while keeping personal information private.

Siri Is Becoming More Personal And More Capable
One of the biggest upgrades arrives in the form of Siri AI, which Apple describes as a completely reimagined version of its digital assistant.
The new Siri is designed to be more conversational and context-aware, with the ability to search information across messages, emails, photos and other content stored on a user's devices. It can also answer questions on a wide range of topics and perform actions inside apps.
Apple is also introducing a dedicated Siri app, alongside deeper integration with writing tools and Visual Intelligence features across its ecosystem. Developer testing begins today, while a public beta is expected later this year.
Photos Gets More Powerful AI Editing Tools
Apple is significantly expanding the AI capabilities inside the Photos app.
A new feature called Spatial Reframing allows users to adjust the composition of an image after it has been captured. Instead of simply cropping a photo, the tool can intelligently generate missing parts of the scene when users reposition the frame.
The company is also upgrading its Extend tool, which can expand images beyond their original boundaries and fill in missing areas when changing aspect ratios or straightening photos.
Meanwhile, the Clean Up feature receives improved object removal capabilities, making it easier to eliminate distractions from complex scenes while maintaining a natural look.
Apple says all AI-edited images will automatically include hidden SynthID watermarks to indicate that generative AI has been used.
Safari Can Now Organise Tabs And Monitor Websites
Apple Intelligence is also reshaping the browsing experience in Safari.
The browser can now automatically group open tabs into relevant topics. For example, someone researching a holiday can have travel-related pages organised together without manually creating tab groups.
A new Notify Me feature allows Safari to watch webpages for specific changes. Users can ask Safari to track things such as product availability or price drops and receive notifications when updates occur.
Apple is even extending AI capabilities to Safari extensions. With Describe an Extension, users can create custom browser tools simply by describing what they want the extension to do.
Passwords Can Upgrade Weak Credentials Automatically
The Passwords app is gaining a feature that could eliminate one of the biggest online security headaches.
In addition to identifying weak or compromised passwords, Apple Intelligence can now automatically navigate supported websites and replace insecure credentials with stronger alternatives. The process happens with a single tap and is designed to reduce the friction involved in improving account security.
Image Playground Now Creates Photorealistic Images
Apple's Image Playground is receiving one of its largest updates since launch.
Users can now generate photorealistic images using a new model that runs through Private Cloud Compute. The feature allows people to create or modify images using simple text descriptions, while also supporting direct editing through taps, selections and brush gestures.
Generated images can be used across the system, including Lock Screen wallpapers and Contact Posters. Users can also choose different aspect ratios depending on where the image will be used.
Like AI-edited photos, AI-generated images will include hidden SynthID watermarks.
AI Is Coming To Messages, Mail And Calendar
Several everyday apps are becoming more proactive with the help of Apple Intelligence.
Messages can now suggest actions based on conversation context, such as creating reminders or finding specific photos requested by friends and family. Mail is becoming more capable as well, with smarter suggestions that can work alongside third-party apps.
Apple is also improving Smart Reply by allowing responses to better reflect a user's personal writing style.
Calendar receives a notable upgrade too. Users can create or modify events simply by describing them in natural language, with the app automatically identifying locations, contacts and event details.
Shortcuts Become Easier To Create
Creating automations is getting much simpler thanks to a new feature called Describe a Shortcut.
Instead of manually building complex workflows, users can explain what they want to happen and Apple Intelligence will generate the required shortcut automatically.
Whether it's setting alarms based on calendar events, opening work apps in a specific arrangement or controlling smart home accessories, the feature aims to make automation more accessible to everyday users.
Smarter Home And Accessibility Features
The Home app is gaining AI-powered notification summaries that group related events together instead of sending multiple alerts.
Users with HomeKit Secure Video cameras will also be able to search footage more easily and view automatically generated descriptions of recorded activity.
Apple is extending AI capabilities to accessibility features as well. VoiceOver can provide richer image descriptions, Voice Control can recognise more natural commands, and Accessibility Reader gains support for summaries and translations.
Privacy Remains A Key Focus
Apple says every part of the new Apple Intelligence platform has been designed with privacy as a priority.
The system relies on a combination of on-device processing and Private Cloud Compute, ensuring that personal information is not stored or made accessible to Apple when requests are handled in the cloud.
The company also revealed that its latest AI models were developed in collaboration with Google's Gemini models, helping power several of the new experiences arriving across Apple's platforms.

Availability
The next generation of Apple Intelligence is available for developer testing starting today. Public beta access will begin next month, with a wider rollout planned alongside iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27 and visionOS 27 later this year.
The features will be available on supported Apple Intelligence-compatible devices, including iPhone 16 series models, iPhone 15 Pro models, supported iPads and Macs, Apple Vision Pro and select Apple Watch models. This version reads like a modern tech publication article rather than a rewritten press release. It prioritises the major announcements first, removes repetitive marketing language, groups related features together, and creates a smoother narrative flow that keeps readers engaged.
