One of the most revered Formula One drivers in racing history, Michael Schumacher, had a fair share of ups and downs in his life. Ever since his accident in 2013, which left him bedridden for years, Schumacher was completely dependent and surrounded by medical specialists taking care of him alongside his family. However, as per a report, Schumacher has made significant improvements in his health. The report in the Daily Mail stated that the seven-time world champion was finally able to break the shackles with the help of specialised nurses and physiotherapists who focus on his cognitive engagement and neurological stimulation.

The 57-year-old commands an incredible fan following since his days of active racing, but he has been away from the public eye since the incident, which occurred over a decade ago. The report also added that Schumacher's wife Corinna is a major reason behind his recovery. Working as an advocate, Corrina's ability to create an incredible medical environment around Schumacher was a testimony to their strong relationship.

Notably, Schumacher is still under the care of medical professionals throughout the day.

The report also claimed that the legendary racer does not communicate much, but he holds awareness towards the incidents taking place near him. The report also states that Schumacher can achieve further improvement in his health.

“The feeling is he understands some of the things going on around him, but probably not all of them,” a source was quoted as saying by The Daily Mail.

“Aged 57, he cannot walk. He is, instead, pushed around the mansion in a wheelchair by nurses and therapists, part of a round-the-clock medical retinue that costs tens of thousands of pounds a week,” the report said.

“Though the Schumachers regularly stay in Majorca, their Balearics retreat is not their main base, I am reliably told. Their main residence remains their £50m house in Gland, Switzerland, a town of some 13,000 on the banks of Lake Geneva.”

What transpired with Schumacher?

While skiing at the Meribel resort in the French Alps on 29 December 2013, Schumacher suffered a collision with a boulder after being struck by a hidden rock. Although his helmet helped save his life, the force of the impact caused a traumatic brain injury. He needed two emergency surgeries along with 250 days in a coma.
