Maharashtra Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that several districts of Maharashtra are set to witness light to moderate rainfall for the next few days. It further stated that a Western Disturbance crossing the Himalayan region will lead to the change in weather in Pune and nearby districts. Along with the rainfall, these regions are also set to witness thunderstorms and gusty winds. The continuous rainfall is likely to lead to waterlogging in the lower regions, leading to inconveniences for the travelers. The weather department has advised the residents of these regions to follow the guidelines and limit their outings during the rainfall.
While providing details, the weather department stated that several districts of Maharashtra, including Pune, Dhule, Satara, Jalgaon, Nashik, and Aurangabad, are set to witness light rain, along with thunderstorms, in the next few days. It further stated that the temperature in these regions will drop by two to three degrees Celsius due to the continuous rainfall. While the maximum temperature of Pune is likely to be calculated at 33 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is likely to remain around 18 degrees Celsius.

“The changes in weather are due to a Western Disturbance crossing the Himalayan region. The wind confluence, which is the interaction between opposite winds blowing from the cold north and the warm south, both carrying moisture, over central India and north and central Maharashtra, is causing clouds and increasing the likelihood of thunder and lightning in isolated areas in Pune and a few other districts,” Anupam Kashyapi, former head of the weather forecasting department at the IMD, was quoted as saying by the Indian Express.
