7-Step Good Night Routine:  Traditionally and scientifically, good night sleep has always been recommended by experts. It helps your body rejuvenate for the day ahead. So, if you also wake up with tired eyes, dull skin, rushed mornings and a drained body? Here is a list of a 7-step good night regimen that has proven to be a reason behind my quality sleep and calmer mornings.

A quality night routine is deep-rooted in Ayurvedic wisdom and modern self-care. This 7-step night plan, inspired by Sadhguru, fosters deep rest, repairs skin overnight, and sets a calm tone for the day ahead, which makes it apt for hustling Indians, who are constantly juggling work, family and social life.

1. Dim the Lights

Switch to warm yellow bulbs, candles or an organic oil lamp. This signals your body to produce melatonin, which signals your body of sunset and might make your body feel naturally drowsy and ready to sleep.

2. Skincare:

Follow your night skincare or simply apply a mild herbal face wash like neem, rose water (whatever suits your skin). It wipes off dirt and pollution from your skin and moisturise after wards. You can also take a shower if you want.

3. Don’t Sleep Right After A Dinner:

A slow walk for 15 minutes after having dinner is good for digestion. It is also recommended that if you are having a heavy dinner, sleep after 4 hours of it.

4. Screen Detox

Bedtime should be away from phones or any sort of screens, at least 1 hr before bed, as blue light interferes with melatonin.

5. Read A Book:

You can also read a few pages of the book you like to calm your mind and make you feel relaxed, which eventually helps you sleep faster and better.

6. Gratitude Journal:

Write 3 positive things about the day you spent. This habit provides a mindset shift by focusing on good and also reduces anxiety.

7. Avoid Caffeine:

Caffeine is known to keep you awake and stay in your body for a longer period of time. So avoid drinking it after dawn or even hours before it if possible.
