Uttarakhand Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that several districts of Uttarakhand are set to witness fresh snowfall in the next two to three days. The weather department stated that while the hilly regions of the state will witness snowfall, the plain districts are likely to witness rainfall. The weather change is likely to lead to a further drop in the minimum temperature in the upcoming days. The IMD stated that most of the districts are set to witness a cold wave and a dip in temperature for the next few days. The weather department has advised the tourists to follow the guidelines and plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconveniences.
Fresh Snowfall Expected
As per the weather department, several regions of Uttarakhand, including Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Nainital, Bageshwar, and Pithoragarh, are set to witness heavy rainfall and snowfall in the upcoming days. It further stated that the other regions, such as Pauri, Tehri, Haridwar, Champawat, Almora, and Udham Singh Nagar, are also set to receive hailstorms accompanied by strong winds gusting up to 40 to 50 kilometers per hour for the next two to three days.
It further stated that light to moderate rainfall is expected in the Kumaon region on January 28, adding that the higher regions will witness snowfall. As per the weather department, snowfall is likely in areas above 2500 meters, and light rain is also expected in some parts of the Garhwal region of the state. Apart from this, snowfall is also expected in areas above 2500 meters in the Garhwal region.
The weather department stated that light to moderate rainfall is likely in the hilly areas of the state at least till February 2, with a possibility of snowfall in areas at an altitude of 2800 meters or higher. It also asserted that the northern states are set to witness a cold wave and fog for the next few days.
