Tilapta-Makauda Flyover: In a major boost to connectivity between Greater Noida West and Greater Noida East, the much-awaited Tilapta-Makaunda flyover on the 130-metre road successfully underwent its first trial run on Tuesday.
During the trial, vehicles travelling from Greater Noida West were allowed to use the flyover, while traffic movement remained smooth and uninterrupted throughout the exercise. The six-lane flyover, constructed near Sakipur over the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC), will be opened to the public from June 15.
The trial run lasted for nearly an hour, during which vehicles were permitted to travel across the entire stretch of the flyover. Following the successful test, the flyover was temporarily closed. Authorities will soon conduct a similar trial on the East-to-West carriageway before opening the structure for regular traffic.
Stretching approximately 2.5 kilometres, the six-lane flyover has been under construction since 2020. The project faced several timeline revisions before reaching completion. Officials from the Greater Noida Authority's Project Department were present to monitor the trial.
Once operational, the flyover is expected to significantly ease congestion near Tilapta on the 130-metre road and reduce travel time for commuters. It will also help accommodate the growing volume of traffic expected with the upcoming operations of Noida International Airport.
Sumit Yadav, Additional Chief Executive Officer (ACEO) of the Greater Noida Authority, said that the trial run on the flyover connecting Tilapta and Makaunda Roundabout over the Dedicated Freight Corridor was successful.
Currently, the trial has been conducted on one side of the flyover. The trial for the opposite carriageway will be carried out soon, after which the flyover will be opened for public use. Traffic movement remained normal during the trial.
