The Election Commission of India published the final electoral roll for Madhya Pradesh on Saturday, following a nearly four-month-long Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, which resulted in the removal of over 3.4 million names.

As per the final electoral roll, the state now has more than 53.9 million voters.

According to the data released by the Election Commission, Madhya Pradesh had 57,406,143 voters before the SIR exercise began in October last year.

After the draft roll was published, the number stood at 53,131,983 voters, with the final tally increasing to 53,981,065.

The Election Commission noted that 3,425,078 names, approximately 6 per cent of the total number before the SIR, were removed due to reasons such as absence, death, migration, and duplication.

Officials said the final electoral roll comprises 2,79,04,975 male voters, 2,60,75,186 female voters and 904 electors from the third gender.

State Chief Electoral Officer Sanjeev Kumar Jha said at a press conference that the EC has also shared a website link enabling the public to check their names in the updated list.
