Bengal SIR: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday released the final electoral roll for West Bengal after the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. According to West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal, a total of 63,66,952 names, nearly 8.3 per cent of the electorate, have been deleted from the final voter list, reducing the total number of voters in the state to over 7.04 crore ahead of the assembly elections.
A total of 1,82,036 voters were added under Form 6 and 6A, and another 6,671 voters were included through Form 8. The total number of registered voters in the state now stands at 7,04,59,284 following the completion of the second phase of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, news agency PTI reported.
The Election Commission also stated 60,06,675 voters have been placed in the under adjudication category, with their fate to be decided by judicial officers in the coming weeks. Prior to the SIR exercise, the state had 7,66,37,529 voters.
The final electoral roll comprises 3,60,22,642 male voters, 3,44,35,260 female voters, and 1,382 voters belonging to the third gender.
How To Check Your Name On The Final Voter List?
Voters can check their names in the final voter list through the following steps-
- ECI NET app
- At local election offices, including AERO, SDO, BDO and DM offices.
What To Do If Your Name Is Marked 'Under Adjudication'
If your name is marked under adjudication, it means your case is pending with a judicial officer.
-If the officer approves your case, your name will be included in the supplementary list.
- If the judicial officer does not approve your case, your name will not be included in the supplementary list.
- In that case, you can't vote in the upcoming assembly poll, as the rule states EC can publish a supplementary list just before the last date of filing nomination.
- You will have to submit Form 6 to be enrolled as an elector.
