Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the India AI Impact Summit 2026 on Thursday, February 19, at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. According to the official statement by the Prime Minister office (PMO), the PM will open the main summit session, welcome world leaders and showcase AI models under the India AI mission.

The entry to the expo on Thursday is restricted to invited dignitaries, global leaders, registered delegates and accredited media due to security protocols and VIP engagements.

Event Highlights:

  • A family photo of attending world leaders is expected ahead of the summit’s opening.
  • PM Narendra Modi’s address at the opening ceremony of the India AI Impact Summit 2026.
  • Summit address by global leaders and officials, including French President Emmanuel Macron, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and top industry figures.
  • India AI Impact Expo tour by the PM and other leaders.
  • Leaders’ Plenary Session with heads of state and top international delegates.
  • PM Modi to participate in the CEO roundtable with global technology and industry executives to discuss AI investment, research collaboration and deployment of AI systems.

Along with this, the PM is set to hold bilateral meetings with several leaders attending the summit. 

Who will Attend:

  • Heads of state and government from more than 20 countries
  • Over 100 government representatives, including ministers and vice ministers
  • More than 500 global AI leaders
  • Around 100 CEOs and founders
  • Around 400 technology executives (CTOs, VPs)
  • Top executives from major tech firms

The main summit on Thursday is likely to be attended by Bill Gates, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silv and leading AI and tech CEOs like Sundar Pichai, Sam Altman, Dario Amodei and Demis Hassabis, among others.

The India AI Impact Summit, 2026, is being held from February 16 to 20. The summit marks the first time a Global South nation is organising an international gathering of this scale on AI. According to the government, this summit is based on three key principles: People, Planet and Progress.
