The AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi concluded with 88 nations endorsing the New Delhi Declaration on AI Impact. The summit emphasised national sovereignty, equitable access to AI technologies and stronger international cooperation to ensure that the benefits of AI are shared across societies. 

Held in Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from February 18 to 20, the summit drew participation from over five lakh visitors and representatives from 118 countries. The event brought together policymakers, industry leaders and technology experts, positioning India as a key voice in shaping global AI governance and infrastructure development.

Countries and international bodies endorsing the declaration include the United States, United Kingdom, China, France, Israel, Canada, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and the European Union, among others. Guided by the principle of “Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaya” (Welfare for all, Happiness for all), the declaration calls for equitable distribution of AI benefits. 

It outlined action in seven priority areas, including democratising AI resources, promoting economic growth and social good, building secure and trusted AI systems and expanding access for social empowerment.

Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw described the summit as a “grand success,” stating that India secured investment commitments worth over USD 250 billion in infrastructure. He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s human-centric AI vision and the push for democratising AI resources received broad international support.

The declaration places particular emphasis on cross-border collaboration and expanding access to AI technologies to ensure inclusive and sustainable global growth.
