Ahead of the Tamil Nadu elections, actor Vijay’s political outfit, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), witnessed an overwhelming response at its Panaiyur office, where a massive number of volunteers gathered to collect optional nomination forms. While the turnout reflected growing enthusiasm and support for the party, it also led to discontent among residents of the upscale neighbourhood, who complained to the media about severe disruption and loss of peace in the area.

Thousands of TVK volunteers and Vijay’s fans reportedly thronged the office, resulting in chaos and heavy congestion. According to Thanthi TV, over 3,000 people turned up at Panaiyur on Friday alone. Videos shared by PTTV and Polimer News captured the disorder outside the office, showing traffic coming to a complete standstill as police personnel struggled to control the crowd and restore order.

A neighbour complained, "We won’t just sit quietly anymore. We’ve come here, spending money, thinking we could stay peacefully in ECR (East Coast Road). Look around, there’s such a huge crowd here, can anyone even live here?" Another one said, "We can't even walk freely on our streets. They are setting up barricades. It's extremely difficult."
