It’s none other than Malayalam actress Santhy Balachandran, who has been credited as the screenwriter. Lead actress Kalyani Priyadarshan also shared in praise for Santhy. Who Is Santhy Balachandran?

Santhy is a theatre and film actress who predominantly works in Malayalam cinema. She made her onscreen debut Arun Dominic’s 2017 fantasy black comedy movie Tharangam opposite Tovino Thomas. Over the years, she has been part of many films such as Chathuram, Jallikattu, Paapam Cheyyathavar Kalleriyatte, Aaha, Djinn and Gulmohar to her credit.

The actress is one of the brilliant minds that the industry has right now. After studying at Hyderabad Central University, she attended Oxford University in 2011 for her postgraduate degree in anthropology. But she gave up her studies to pursue a career in acting.

Recently, the actress thanked her parents for supporting her in the life choices that she made. In an Instagram story, Santhy Balachandran wrote, “I have a lot of people to thank. But none more than my Achan and Amma. They have seen every up and down at close quarters, felt every moment of joy and heartache — possibly even more deeply than I have. My choice to give up a stable academic life in Oxford for a life of uncertainty in the arts has not been easy on them. They have watched and worried as I tried to find my feet in the quicksand that is the creative industry. I have thrown curveball after curveball their way since I was a little girl, but they have always taken it in their stride, recalibrating their understanding of what support looks like in each instance. To watch them feel joy and some measure of relief after all the anxious nights I have given them is the best thing the success of Lokah has given me. So a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has watched and embraced our film.”
