On Friday, Hrithik Roshan praised Shahid Kapoor’s O’Romeo on X, calling it 'too good' and lauding Shahid as the 'best in this genre', but his comments sparked trolling online. This isn’t the first time, as the War 2 actor was earlier criticised for his review on Ranveer Singh-starrer blockbuster movie Dhurandhar, where he had expressed concerns over the film’s political undertones.
Hailing O'Romeo, Hrithik wrote on X, "The quirkiness of #ORomeo eventually wins you over. I had fun. @shahidkapoor, you do this genre BEST. Too good you are. Go watch it in the theatres, guys. Also, that running in circles action was brilliant."
In a heartfelt response to the War 2 actor, Shahid Kapoor wrote on X, "Brother saw you debut like a boss when I was still in college, and you hit me like lightning. Been loving you since your first. This feels special. Big love, so happy you enjoyed the film."

Angry fans flooded the comments section following his O’Romeo review, with one user remarking, "So you liked this pathetic movie but hated Dhurandhar?" Another questioned his intentions, writing, "I hope this isn’t paid promotion, especially when you criticised Dhurandhar, which was actually a masterclass."
Some comments accused Hrithik of selective appreciation, with one stating, "Wow, suddenly praising Shahid’s ‘quirky’ film after ignoring others’ work — selective brotherhood only when the box office seems weak?" Others raised concerns over the film’s political undertones, asking whether he agreed with certain dialogues and character portrayals.
Several users also drew direct comparisons to his earlier criticism of Dhurandhar, pointing out the apparent inconsistency, with one comment reading, "Didn’t you notice any politics here like you did in Dhurandhar?"
