Filmmaker David Dhawan Announces Retirement From Filmmaking
A special event called the ‘David Dhawan Film Festival’ was organised on Saturday to celebrate the filmmaker’s long journey in the Hindi film industry.
David Dhawan attended the event along with his son Varun Dhawan. Several film personalities were present at the celebration, including Karan Johar, who later shared his thoughts about the veteran director on social media.

David Dhawan’s Iconic Film Journey
David Dhawan is considered one of Bollywood’s most successful comedy directors. Born on August 16, 1955, David developed a passion for films during his early years and later studied at the Film and Television Institute of India. He made his directorial debut with Taaqatwar in 1989 and later delivered hit comedy films like Raja Babu, Coolie No. 1, Hero No. 1, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, Partner and many more.
During his career spanning more than four decades, he has worked with stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Govinda, Akshay Kumar, Karisma Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit.
Karan Johar Pens Emotional Note For David Dhawan
Karan Johar shared an emotional note after David Dhawan hinted that Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai could be his final film. Calling him the face of Bollywood entertainment, Karan praised his contribution to comedy cinema and wished success for his upcoming film with Varun Dhawan.

David Dhawan Returns After Six-Year Break
After a gap of six years, David Dhawan is returning to direction with Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai. The film stars Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, Pooja Hegde, Mouni Roy and others. The movie is scheduled to release in theatres on June 5.
