Pakistan vs Sri Lanka, ICC T20 World Cup 2026: Sahibzada Farhan entered his name in the history books as he smashed Virat Kohli’s long-standing record for the most runs in a single edition of a men’s T20 World Cup. Farhan achieved the feat during the Pakistan vs Sri Lanka Super 8 match in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

After Pakistan were put into bat first, Farhan looked in great touch and scored a magnificent half-century to give his team a fiery start with a 100-plus opening partnership with Fakhar Zaman. Virat had a memorable outing in the 2014 T20 World Cup, scoring 319 runs in six matches at an average of 106.33 on the back of four fifties. Talking about Farhan, the Pakistani batter is the leading run-getter in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup with the help of a century and three fifties.

Farhan took one extra match to Kohli, but it doesn’t take away much from his sensational form. He has been Pakistan’s most consistent and reliable batter in this tournament. However, he had a disappointing outing in the all-important match against India, scoring 0. He returned on track with an outstanding century against Namibia and then another 63 in a losing cause against England.

While Babar Azam, Salman Mirza and Saim Ayub were dropped, Pakistan brought back Naseem Shah, Khawaja Nafay and Abrar Ahmed in their lineup. "It’s a massive opportunity. We just need to play a perfect game, bowl well, bat well, and field well, and I think everything will be fine. Yeah, we would have bowled first definitely, but there is no way we can do that while batting. So you just need to put up a good total and try to restrict them," Pakistan captain Salman Agha said at the toss.
