Stock Market Today| Sensex Today| Nifty Today: The equity indices have largely remained higher in the last week on the back of FPIs buying, firm investors' interest and mixed global cues. Meanwhile, the domestic equity market is expected to react sharply today after the US Supreme Court labelled the tariff imposed by President Trump 'unconstitutional'.

"The Trump tariff tale has become murkier after the US Supreme Court declared the tariffs illegal. The SC judgement is, indeed, a landmark decision which will seriously impact Trump’s tariff weaponisation strategy," said Dr VK Vijayakumar, Chief Investment Strategist, Geojit Investments Limited.

"From the market perspective, the US SC decision is indeed a positive, but this is not sufficient to trigger a sustained rally in the market. The market will see only a relief rally, which is unlikely to sustain," Vijaykumar added.

Stock Market Today: Rupee Gains Marginally

Rupee traded marginally positive near 90.86, gaining around 0.07, after the US court decision to block Trump’s broader reciprocal tariff framework.

"With the administration retaining a 15% blanket tariff, India effectively gains a relative 3% advantage compared to the earlier 18% deal framework, which could now come up for renegotiation. This development improves near-term sentiment for the rupee as trade uncertainty eases slightly and capital flow expectations remain stable. Immediate resistance is placed near 90.65, while support is seen around 91.20, and further movement will depend on follow-up trade clarity and dollar index direction," Jateen Trivedi, VP Research Analyst - Commodity and Currency, LKP Securities.

Stock Market Today: Nifty50 Technical Analysis

The Nifty 50 opened with a gap-up and traded in a narrow range throughout the session, ultimately closing 145 points higher (up 0.55 per cent).,

"The index managed to reclaim and close above its 100-day EMA, which is technically constructive. However, momentum remains neutral, with RSI (14) at 51.54 and still below its 14-day SMA, indicating the absence of strong directional conviction. On the levels front, immediate resistance is seen at 25,800, followed by 25,900, where significant OI build-up is visible. On the downside, 25,500 continues to act as crucial immediate support," said Hariprasad K, SEBI-registered Research Analyst and Founder, Livelong Wealth.

     ,

Rupak De, Senior Technical Analyst at LKP Securities, said that following a gap-up start, the index retraced and slipped back below the 50DMA due to a lack of buying interest at higher levels.

"A flow of contradictory news kept the index confined roughly within the band of the 21EMA (25641) and the 50DMA (25737). India VIX remained elevated, while the index continued to hold above the 200DMA. The daily RSI remained indecisive despite a positive crossover. In the short term, the index may remain sideways unless it moves above 25750 or falls below 25600," De added.

Stock Market Update: Domestic Market Welcomes US Suprme Court Decision: Experts

According to experts, Indian equity markets traded with a cautious and largely range-bound bias today after a gap-up opening, as early optimism faded and investors refrained from building aggressive positions at higher levels amid mixed global cues.

"The undertone remained balanced, supported by steady domestic institutional inflows that helped preserve the broader recovery momentum. The rupee remained broadly stable against the U.S. dollar, signalling contained external pressures and balanced demand–supply dynamics in the currency market," said Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money.

Vinod Nair, Head of Research, Geojit Investments Limited, said that the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling against Trump’s reciprocal tariff policy was welcomed by domestic markets.

"Investors are awaiting more clarity on Trump’s revised strategy and the scope of renegotiations by other nations. A weaker U.S. dollar and declining 10‑year Treasury yields may add a near term caution in the global market. Sectorally, the IT index faced pressure from unresolved concerns over AI‑driven disruption. Nonetheless, investors favoured domestic themes, with banks, power, FMCG, and consumer discretionary stocks gaining traction on expectations of resilient demand and economic recovery," said Nair.

Stock Market Today: Why Sensex, Nifty Up Today?

According to  Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money, the Indian stock market opened on a firm and positive note, supported by relief after the US Supreme Court struck down former President Donald Trump’s broad reciprocal tariffs, easing global trade concerns and lifting sentiment in export-oriented sectors, despite his subsequent move to invoke a 10–15% global tariff under alternative authority.

"However, near-term caution persists due to escalating US–Iran geopolitical tensions, including military buildup and strike threats that raise the risk of oil supply disruptions through the Strait of Hormuz, keeping crude prices firm. Overall sentiment remains constructive on trade relief and strength in banking, metal, and auto stocks, but the broader market is likely to stay range-bound and choppy with volatility until clearer global stability or decisive triggers emerge," Ponmudi R noted.

Stock Market Today Live Update: Sensex, Nifty Expected To Open Higher

According to an expert, Indian equity markets are poised for a steady-to-positive start, as reflected by firm trends in GIFT Nifty amid improving global risk sentiment after the US Supreme Court struck down President Donald Trump’s earlier reciprocal tariffs.

"Although he subsequently signed an executive order imposing a fresh 10–15% global tariff—effectively resetting tariffs on Indian exports to around 10% for now—the broader backdrop remains cautious. Ongoing geopolitical tensions between the United States and Iran continue to influence crude oil prices, while President Trump’s remarks about potentially exploring alternative legal routes to advance his tariff agenda reintroduce policy uncertainty. While near-term sentiment has improved, markets may remain vulnerable to intermittent bouts of volatility as geopolitical and trade developments evolve," said Ponmudi R, CEO of Enrich Money, a SEBI-registered online trading and wealth tech firm.
